Alejandro H. Madrid is a Barcelona-based cinematographer (Director of Photography / DoP) who really, really loves making things look good on camera. He’s been doing this for over 10 years now, which means he’s spent a solid chunk of his life chasing beautiful images, arguing with light, and occasionally making friends with it.
His love affair with film started when he realised movies weren’t just magic, they were made by people. So, he decided to be one of those people. He studied at ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) and UCAB, where he learned all the serious technical stuff… and how far you can go with very little when you’re on a shoot.
Since then, Alejandro’s worked on all kinds of projects, from tiny indie films to big flashy commercials, and he’s happiest when collaborating with directors and crews to bring a vision to life (and maybe add a little of his own secret sauce).
What really sets him apart? He’s obsessed with the details, how light hits a face, the exact shade of a shadow, or whether the camera move feels like butter. He’s always testing new ideas, chasing new styles, and trying to make images that not only look great but feel great.
These days, he’s especially into high-speed and motion control work, basically, making fast things look epic and beautiful. It’s a mix of precision, creativity, and a little bit of wizardry, and Alejandro’s all in for it.
In short: if it moves, if it shines, if it tells a story, he’ll find a way to make it look unforgettable.
